Obituary

Aaron David Gill, 50, of Townsend, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 7, 2025 in Lancaster, Massachusetts, while doing what he loved.

Born on August 21, 1974 in Burlington, Vermont, he was the beloved son of Christine Malhoit (Kasaras) and the late David A. Gill. Aaron was a loving father, brother, son, uncle, and cousin.

A 1992 graduate of West Bridgewater High School, Aaron lived a life of service and loyalty. A 27-year veteran and Sergeant with the Massachusetts Department of Corrections, he extended his dedication to helping others well beyond his professional duties. In the wake of the September 11 attacks, he volunteered to travel to New York City, assisting in recovery efforts at Ground Zero.

Among the many ways Aaron served others, music held a special place. He performed for more than a decade with the Irish American Police Officers Association Pipes & Drums and was a founding member of the MCOFU Pipe and Drum band. Whether honoring fallen officers, marking occasions at government ceremonies, or playing at Fenway Park, Aaron carried himself with pride, humility, and deep respect for the traditions he upheld.

An enthusiastic family genealogist and passionate student of New England history, Aaron often spent time exploring cemeteries, local archives, and historic sites in search of stories and connections from the past. On the open road, he found freedom and camaraderie, riding his motorcycle through New England's backroads and on cross-country journeys with his brothers in the Hired Guns Motorcycle Club. As a founding member and past President of Hired Guns Massachusetts, he dedicated 13 years to building lasting friendships, loyalty, and community among its members.

Aaron will be remembered for his dry humor and sharp wit, always ready with a perfectly timed quip to make others laugh. He is survived by his daughter, Mia Senechal of Brooklyn, NY; mother, Christine Malhoit and, stepfather, Edward Malhoit, of Claremont, NH; brothers, Adam Gill and his wife Naomi, of Bronx, NY; Andrew Gill of Claremont, NH; and Eric Gill and his wife, Carolyn, of Parrish, FL, and their three children, Leo, Charlie, and Olivia. Aaron is also survived by stepsiblings Adam Malhoit, Ashley Chitwood, Jamie Malhoit, as well as his step-niece and nephews, Marisa, Liam, and Antonio.
