IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Agnes
Thompson
January 31, 1928 – January 20, 2024
Agnes Tauriac Thompson, 95, died Saturday, January 20, 2024 just 11 days shy of her 96th birthday. She passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Nursing Home in Brockton, Mass. she lived a long life and was fiercely loved by her daughters who cared for her during that time.
Waiting for her in heaven was her husband of 50 years, Allen Thompson, her son and daughter in law Stanley and Joan Thompson and all of her brothers and sisters.
Currently she is mourned by her daughters Wendy Samuel of Charlotte, NC, Sheila Thompson of Sterling, Va, Adrien Thompson Rahman Jackson, her grandson Christopher Haskins of Brockton, Mass, Yasmeen Thompson of Butte Montana, Ian Jackson and a great grandson Kolby Dollar of Brockton, Mass.
Agnes and Allen worked hard and owned their own homes and taught and raised their children with work ethics that have served them well today. They were proud to have travelled internationally and accompanied their daughters in travels to Bermuda, Sint Maarten and Anguilla.
After Allen's sudden death Agnes rallied and moved home to Louisiana for many years before moving to North Carolina to live with her daughter Wendy and her husband Mario for 10 years. Many times in that time she would go to Virginia for months at a time to live with her daughter Sheila and her husband Ron. She enhanced both households with her southern genteel manner and her sons in law adored her.
Everyone who met Agnes walked away remembering "Miss Agnes" as a lovely kind woman. Her years at St. Joseph was spent making friends and being cared for as she struggled with living with Parkinson's, diabetes, and eventually Dementia. But through all of this she kept her dignity and kept herself busy and was known for her craftwork and her beading. So many women at the nursing home have been seen sporting pearl necklaces or bracelets handmade by Agnes. For many years she attended and some days lead the daily rosary and attended mass at the chapel in St. Joseph's. Her faith remained strong up until the day she went to meet her loved ones and her creator.
"There is no grief like the grief that does not speak."
"Grief can't be shared. Everyone carries it alone; their own burden in their own way."
"Grief is the price we pay for love".
Since we loved her fiercely we grieve her deeply.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at 3:00pm at St. Joseph's Manor Chapel, 215 Thatcher Street, Brockton, Mass. The family will gather for a post funeral dinner.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Agnes can be made to the Micheal J. Fox Foundation dedicated to the treatment of Parkinson's or St. Joseph Benevolent Fund to help others in the nursing home that need help.
