Aida Fernandes Lopes, 91, of Brockton passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at her home under the care of her family and hospice. She was the wife of the late Amaro Gomes Lopes. Born in Fogo, Cape Verde on May 15, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Marcelino Pires and Albertina Fernandes. Aida enjoyed cooking, sewing, taking care of her grandchildren and neighbors' children, and helping others better their lives. She was everyone's friend. She is survived by her children Maria Josefina Lopes, Alvaro F. Lopes, Deodato F. Lopes, Livio F. Lopes and Maria Socorro F. Lopes; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister Maria Gomes. A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Edith Stein Parish on Friday, May 14th at 10:00 AM followed by interment in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton.
