Albert J. Zarrella, Sr.
Albert James Zarrella, Sr., 81 of Brockton passed away Friday, December 10, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center, Brockton surrounded by all of his family after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Eleanor (Lifchitz) Zarrella.
Born November 5, 1929 in Brockton he was the son of the late James V. Zarrella, Sr. and Filomena (Capone) Zarrella. A life long resident of Brockton he attended Brockton High School and was a member of the High School football team.
Albert was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran from 1948-1952. His service included the USS KD Bailey (1948-1949) and the USS Monterey (1952).
He was a builder who built many homes in Brockton and Whitman. Albert was a long time representative in the liquor industry and shop steward for the Teamsters Local 25 for Federal Distillers. He was also a member of the Italian American Veterans.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Eleanor Zarrella of Brockton; loving father of 6 children, the late James V. Zarrella, the late Robert J. Zarrella, Albert Zarrella, II and his fiance Gina Caycedo of Mansfield, Cheryl A. Dwyer and her husband David of Scituate, Joanne M. Zarrella of Brockton and Kenneth P. Zarrella and his wife Colleen of Raynham; his 14 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews; his sister, Viola Fazio of Winter Park, Florida. He was the brother of the late Jenny Cappozi, Rose D'addario, Frank Zarrella, Sr., Madeline Cerone and Rita DiNunno.

Funeral from the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Thursday at 8:00AM thence to St. Edith Stein/St. Edward Parish where a funeral mass will be celebrated for the repose of his soul at 9:00AM. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton. Calling hours Wednesday 5:00-8:00PM.
