Alcides De Ascencao Silva, 51, of Brockton passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at the Brockton Health Center.
Born January 22, 1967, in Brava, Cape Verde he was a son of Vitalina De Ascencao and the late Jaime Da Silva. Alcides came to the United States, to Brockton, MA at the age of 16. He was a graduate of Brockton High School and also attended New England Technical School.
He worked security for the Golden Pearl Restaurant in China Town, Boston and for Hit or Miss Clothing Store. He also worked as a mechanical engineer for Copley Pharmaceutical of Canton. Most recently he was a security guard for the Federal Building in Boston. He enjoyed music and dancing. Some of Alcides other interests included running and motorcycles. He was a parishioner of St. Edith Stein Parish in Brockton.
He is survived by his children, Sarah Silva and Alexandro Silva; his grandchild, Zayden; his siblings, Carmen Teixeira-Parry and her husband Keith, Joao Ascencao "ZiZi" and his wife Alice, Tomaz Andrade and his wife Leonisa, Henrique Silva, Hipolito Goncalves, Joao Silva, Isaura Silva " Zamy", Domingas Silva "Nicy", Joaozinho Silva "John", Maria Silva " Lalicha", Diolinda Silva "Duduca", Benilde Silva, Laura Silva, and Madalena Rodrigues " Lena". He is also survived by his many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral from the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Wednesday, September 19th at 8:00AM followed by a funeral mass in St. Edith Stein/St. Edward Parish, 71 East Main St., Brockton at 9:00AM. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Brockton. Calling hours in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4:00PM-8:00PM. It is the family's wishes that everyone respects their time needed to mourn and they ask to please refrain from visiting them at his mother's home.
