Alice fell in love with Bob through a mutual love of horses. They married in1959 and together they raised 6 children in Bridgewater. While raising her young family, Alice attended and graduated from the Bristol Community College with an Associate Degree in Nursing in 1976. Alice was proud of her lengthy Registered Nursing career in Labor and Delivery and Pediatric Care. She delivered many babies when physicians could not arrive in time. Alice was also present for the births of several of her grandchildren.
Alice is remembered for her love of all animals, especially giraffes and horses, and for her equestrian and equine training skills. Alice was an avid reader from an early age; always having a book by her side. She enjoyed her travels with her husband, family, and friends. Alice's life's interests included: camping, sewing, baking, square dancing, ceramics, swimming, being near the ocean, biking, skiing, playing piano, and singing around the campfire. For many years, she competed in dance and figure rollerskating, and performed and competed with Sweet Adelines (a women only acapella barbershop chorus).
Alice generously gave to others through her life of service. Her nursing skills were voluntarily offered at skating rinks, to family and neighbors, blood pressure clinics, and to assist at accident scenes. Alice volunteered at horse stables and never hesitated to rescue and provide care to injured animals.
She connected to her community through the Saint Thomas Aquinas Folk Mass, taught in-home CCD religious education, created First Communion banners, became a Cub Scouts Den Mother and a Girl Scouts Troop Leader, and sang in church choirs. After moving to Lakeland, Florida in 2009, Alice volunteered at the St. Anthony's Church office, delivered meals to Seniors, helped neighbors, and was involved in the Cypress Lakes Village Nursing Group, Entertainment Committee and was a Bingo Caller.
Alice touched many lives through her kindness, generosity, sense of humor, intellect, confidence, advocacy, empathy, and acceptance of others. She maintained lifelong friendships with the "Over the Hill" Gang (where she was an honorary member), neighbors, and multiple families from her communities. Alice was loved by all who knew her and she will be dearly missed. Our family was blessed with her extraordinary love, which will live in our hearts forever.
