Obituary

Alice M. Durant, (88) passed away peacefully at home, on February 1, 2009.She was born on October 23, 1920, in Brockton, Massachusetts. She resided later in life between her daughters homes in Metter, Georgia, and Middleburg, Florida. She graduated from Brockton High School, Class of 1938, and Williams Business School. She worked until her retirement at Brockton Public Market. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, John and Elizabeth Murphy and her husband Robert Joseph Durant, Sr. She is survived by her four children; Robert Durant Jr. (May Fung) of Buckeye Arizona, John Durant (Penny) of Carver, Massachusetts, Janice Simpson (Joe) of Metter, Georgia, and Denise Hester (John) of Middleburg, Florida, nine (9) grandchildren; Elizabeth (Durant) Berthelson, Robert Durant III (deceased), Cherie (Durant) Mammone, Michelle (Durant) Hannula, Danielle (Durant) Hutchinson, Joey Simpson, Jennifer (Simpson) Gebhardt, Christine (Hester) Scheilding, and John Hester Jr. and eight (8) great grandchildren and numerous special friends and family.
A funeral Mass in celebration of her life will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Brockton Monday March 30, 2009 at 11am, interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Alice touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Alice requested that donations in her memory be made to the American Heart Association, 5851 St. Augustine Rd. Jacksonville, FL 32207.
