Alice (Guertin) Kirk
, 104, of Nemasket Road, West Falmouth, passed away peacefully at JML Care Center in Falmouth on Wednesday, November 9, 2011. She was the wife of the late William J. Kirk for 41 years.
Born September 4, 1907 in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late David Guertin and Mary (Kelley) Guertin.
Formerly of Newtonville, Mrs. Kirk was educated at Boston University. She taught elementary school for several years.
Alice was an active communicant of St. Elizabeth Seton Parish in North Falmouth. She was also involved with Wild Harbor Yacht Club during its early years. In her later years, she volunteered at Falmouth Hospital. She took up curling at the age of 75 and continued into her nineties.
Alice was the mother of George L. Kirk and his wife Pamela of Silver Beach and Portsmouth, RI; William J. Kirk, Jr. and his wife Joyce of North Falmouth, and the late Susan M. Kirk; David G. Kirk and his wife Ann of Sudbury and Silver Beach; Mary K. Smith and her husband Robert of Lexington and West Falmouth; Anne K. Shea and her husband John of West Falmouth; and the late Joseph P. Kirk and his wife Rebecca. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Information
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated for the repose of her soul on MONDAY, November 14th at 11:00AM in St. Elizabeth Seton Parish, 481 Quaker Rd., North Falmouth. Interment will be held in St. Joseph's Cemetery, West Roxbury on TUESDAY at 11:00AM. Calling hours will be held in St. Elizabeth Seton Parish SUNDAY from 2:00-5:00 PM.
