Alvin Bernard Burt, age 72, of Brockton, passed away on May 30, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family and friend. He was the husband of Hazel M. Gaylor-Burt.

Born in Henderson, NC, he was the son of the late Willie and Bernice (Hicks) Burt.

Mr. Burt served his country proudly in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.

He worked as a delivery truck driver for Anheuser-Busch Companies for many years prior to retiring.

Alvin participated in an over 40 basketball league. He took inner city kids on trips with the “men’s group”. Mr. Burt also enjoyed travelling the United States. He was known to many as an amazingly funny guy, a people magnet and anyone he came in contact would automatically want to continue the friendship. He would strike up a conversation with anyone. Family was his priority and looked forward to getting together for family reunions. He also had a good sense of style and loved food.

Besides his wife Hazel, he is survived by his three step daughters, Carica Gaylor, Latonya Gaylor, and Vatonja Williams; a brother Ralph Burt and his wife Sonya ; a sister Pamela Burt-Clark, and her husband Timothy; three grandchildren, Daquan Royster, Ariel Depina, and Tyson Silva; a great grandson, Daquan Royster, Jr; his nieces, Channel Burt, Shanika Burt, Symone Burt, Brianna Martin, Sharelle and Brandon McNair; special loving aunts, Juanita Whitfield Hicks (wife of late Clarence Hicks) of Kittrell, NC, Beverly Hicks (wife of late Donald Hicks) of St. Petersburg, Fl, Inez Hicks ( wife of late Herbert Hicks) of Bronx, Ny, Mary Hicks (wife of Charles Hicks) of Halifax, Ma; cousins who were as siblings passed, Carol Hicks of Brandon, FL, and Juanda Hicks Sloan of Ayer, Ma . He was also survived by a host of beloved cousins, nieces and friends. Alvin will be lovingly remembered by his mother-in-law Margiree “Mama” Smith, whom he held very dear to his heart.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Boston, Ma Cardiovascular Institute Team. A very special thank you to the Lvad team, Dr. Marwa Swabe, Kathy Lee, Shannon Frias, and many others for their compassion, kindness, and support. Also, a shout out and thank you to Old Colony Hospice Care in Bridgewater, Ma.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026, from 9-11 am, with words of remembrance beginning at 10:30 am, in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton. Interment will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 12:30 pm.
