Alzira Andrade, 84, peacefully passed away on February 9, 2022 while at home. Alzira was born February 15, 1937, in Fogo, Roçadas Cape Verde to the late Misanta and Nhó Nhó Rodrigues. In 1985, Alzira left Cape Verde to come to America in order to build a better life for her family. Alzira was a caring and loving person who was always there when you needed her. She had a great sense of humor and could brighten up any room that she entered. She can be described as someone who was strong, resilient, quick-witted, bold, caring, confident and helpful. Alzira's family meant the world to her. She was a devoted mother and the most loving grandmother that anyone could ask for. In fact, she played a major role in raising her 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by her parents Misanta and Nhó Nhó and her brother Josefa Andrade. She is survived by her siblings Natalia, Arnoldo, and Pedro, her children Maria (Fatima) Monteiro and her spouse Antonio, Celina Fontes and her spouse David, Maria (Candida) Alves and her spouse Antero, Arsenio Andrade and his spouse Luisa, Catarina (Zita) Goncalves and her spouse Tchalo and Benvinda (Vina) Tavares. She has 16 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Alzira's love and legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of her family, friends and anyone who had the pleasure of interacting with her. She will be deeply missed. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, February 16th in St. Edith Stein Parish, 71 E. Main St., Brockton, with interment to follow in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. Calling hours in the funeral home on Tuesday, February 15th from 4:00-8:00 PM.
