Anastasios G. "Ernie" Xiarchos
Anastasios George "Ernie" Xiarchos, 78, of Brockton, died Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center, Brockton after a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Electra F. (Vaxivanos) Xiarchos for 46 years.
Born May 8, 1932 in Ambilofiton, Peloponnese, Greece, he was the son of the late George and Eugenia (Mylonas) Xiarchos.
Mr. Xiarchos was educated and attended University in Greece. He also served two years in the Greek Army. He then arrived in the United States in 1958 to pursue the American Dream.
Upon arriving he worked several jobs while attending Northeastern University. He taught himself the English Language and received his Engineering Degree from Northeastern University.
He was employed as an Electronic Engineer for the Gillette Company in Boston for over 30 years. Mr. Xiarchos was also a proud member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Brockton and the AHEPA Association. He also served as the past Governor of the Pan-Macedonian Association of Brockton. He was a strong supporter of the Republican Party. He enjoyed traveling to Greece on numerous occasions. Reading and writing were some of his passions. He wrote and published a book, "A Collection of Proverbs and Anecdotes of Life: A Philosophical Analysis." He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his two daughters, Georgia Campbell and her husband Richard and Theodora Nikopoulos and her husband Charalampos all of Brockton; loving grandfather of Alexandria Electra Campbell, Angelica Cleo-Joan Campbell, Vasilios Charalampos Nikopoulos and Kosmas Anastasios Nikopoulos all of Brockton; brother of Yanoula Xiarchos of Greece; he is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews in Greece and Canada. He was the brother of the late Andonios, Demetrios, Nicholas, Vasiliky and Ourania Xiarchos all of Greece.

Funeral from the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Thursday at 10:00AM followed by a funeral service in the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 457 Oak St., Brockton at 11:00AM. Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. Calling hours Wednesday 4:00-7:00PM.
