Andrew G. Pappas
88, of Easton, died Saturday March 20, 2010 at the Southeast Rehabilitation Skilled Care Center, North Easton after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Georgia (Vouros) Pappas.
Born October 29, 1921 in Brockton, he was a son of the late George Pappas and Vasiliki (Tjounis) Pappas. Andrew was raised and educated in Brockton. He was a resident of Stoughton for many years.
His career was spent in the food industry. Andrew was the original owner of Andy's Food Mart of Stoughton and part owner of the Stoughton Deli. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force and was a WWII veteran. Andrew was an avid Boston sports fan but his heart always remained with the Braves. He most valued his time spent with his family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, Papou, friend and a hero who lived a long and happy life.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Georgia Pappas, his children, Karen Gifford and her husband William of Easton, Val Bernier and her husband Tom of Lyndeborough, N.H., George Pappas and his wife Marie of Taunton, Andrea Avitabile and her husband John of Brockton; his grandchildren, Michael, Kim, Tara, T.J., Christopher, Andrew, Erin, Gregory, Matthew, Daniel, Nicole and Kristen; his great- grandchildren, Calvin, Maddy, Dory, Gabe, Nathan, Jordan, Ryan and Ryan, Cole and Paige; his siblings, Ann Yaitaines of Florida and Helen Michaels of Taunton. He was the brother of the late Michael and Ambrose Pappas, Ethel Tsitas, Mary Young and Sophie Argrew.
Funeral Information
Funeral from the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St.,(RT123) Brockton on Tuesday at 10:00AM followed by a funeral service in the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 457 Oak St., Brockton at 11:00AM. The Rev. John Kiramarios will officiate. Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. Calling hours Monday 4:00-8:00PM.
