ANDREW'S LIFE JOURNEY
Andrew Postell, Sr, was born on March 14, 1927, in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Peter B. Postell 4th and the late Nancy Crum Postell. He grew up in the West end area in Cincinnati and attended public schools there. Andrew enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1944, serving eight years and a few months. During his service time Andrew met and married the love of his life, Edith Clementine Mackall of Washington, D.C. on September 25, 1949. From this union two sons were born; Andrew Jr. and Peter B. 5th. After he was honorably discharged, he relocated to Boston, Massachusetts. At this time he decided to further his education. He received certificates from Saunders Radio Electronic School and Wentworth Evening School in Boston. Andrew and his family moved to Bridgewater, Massachusetts in 1963. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 2125 in Bridgewater. He served as Chaplain and later as Senior Vice Commander. He also started a membership drive during his time of service. He worked for the Barnstead Company as an Electrical Assembler for 24 years. When this Company moved out of state, he worked for the Codex Corp. and Nobler Electrical Co. for a few more years in the same capacity before retiring in 1993. Andrew enjoyed traveling with his wife on many trips. He was a member of the Golden Agers in Bridgewater and a member of the Sippican Seniors in Marion for many years. Andrew embraced the Christian Scientist religion and was a devout and faithful member of the Mother Church in Boston. He believed strongly in Mary Baker Eddy's philosophy of healing.
Abide with me; fast breaks the morning light;
Our daystar rises, banishing all night;
Thou Art our strength, O Truth that maketh free,
We would unfailingly abide in Thee.
I know no fear, with Thee at hand to bless,
Sin hath no power and life no wretchedness;
Health, hope and love in all around I see
For those who trustingly abide in Thee.
I know Thy presence every passing hour,
I know Thy peace, for Thou alone are power;
O Love divine, abiding constantly
I need not plead, Thou dost abide with me.
