IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ann (Jefferson)
Bernier
January 1, 1919 – December 16, 2024
In Loving Memory of Ann Lucille Bernier
Ann Lucille Bernier, age 86, passed away peacefully on December 16th, 2024, surrounded by her children after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. A strong and brave woman, she faced her illness with unwavering determination, resilience, bravery, and a touch of humor.
Before her retirement from Southeast Cardiology, Ann found immense joy and fulfillment in her work, often reminding others of the saying, "If you love what you do, it really doesn't feel like work." Outside of her career, Ann was a talented artisan who cherished the craft of sewing, knitting, and quilting, creating beautiful pieces that will forever remind her family of her many talents. If a handcrafted item was needed to be created, hemmed, or altered - you could always count on Ann.
Ann was a devoted snowbird who cherished her time in Lakeville, Massachusetts, and Palm Bay, Florida, embracing the best of both communities and seasons. In the fall and winter, she cheered for her favorite football and baseball teams while laughing with her bantering children, grandson, and great-grandson. During the summer, she enjoyed cookouts at the pond, leisurely rides on the pontoon boat, feeding the ducks, and watching hummingbirds visit her flower boxes. Ann enjoyed playing cards at the senior center in Lakeville, attending her knitting group in Florida, and gathering with her close friends for early bird specials at her favorite restaurants. On occasion, she traveled to different casinos, where she valued the camaraderie and lively moments shared with her friends and family. Her gentle spirit, old soul, and boundless love for her family and friends will be deeply missed. During her final days, she was looking forward to being reunited with her late husband, Richard P. Bernier, with whom she shared a lifetime filled with adventures, memories, and love.
Ann is lovingly remembered and survived by her son Jeffrey Bernier and his wife Ruth of Lakeville; her son Darryl Bernier and his wife Stacey of Lakeville; her son Jay Bernier of South Carolina; her daughter Beth Ann Bernier of South Boston; her beloved grandson Jared Bernier and great-grandson Robert Bernier, both of Middleboro. Ann is also survived by her dear sister Linda Trauterman and her husband Bill Trauterman of Middleboro and Florida, as well as her sister-in-law, Linda Bernier of Lakeville. Additionally, she is survived by many nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart.
In her honor, Ann's family invites everyone to spend a Sunday doing what brings them joy, surrounded by the special people who fill their hearts with happiness. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute to support pancreatic cancer research, celebrating Ann's memory and contributing to the fight against this disease. In May, a private celebration will be held to honor Ann's life and reflect on the joy she brought to those around her.
