Anne A. (Scherban) Thompson, 90, of Quincy, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2015 at the Colonial Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Weymouth after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late James W. Leehan and Joseph G Thompson to whom she was married for 43 years.
Born June 17, 1925 in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Dimitri Scherban and Mary (Turchinetz) Scherban. She was the last surviving sibling of 8 children. Raised in Dorchester, she graduated from Dorchester High School and then worked as a purchasing agent at Hayes Bickford for several years.
Anne dedicated much of her life to the Womens Club in Williston Florida where she received the Woman of the Year award for 1981-1982 and the Womens Club in Milton, MA. She was President of the Williston Womens club for many years and then President of the Milton Womens Club from 2004-2014. She retired as President at age 89.
Anne is survived by her daughter, Roberta Gelsi and her husband Arthur of Hanson, her son-in law, Richard Burgess of Stoughton. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Bernadette Anne Burgess and James W. Leehan, Jr.

Calling hours in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (RT123) Brockton on Saturday, August 1st from 9:00AM-11:00AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00AM in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton.
