Mackinaw of Bridgewater; Dennis Melchionne and his wife Ellen of Hilton Head, SC; George A. Melchionne of E. Bridgewater and Colleen Melchionne of NY. Grandfather of Kelly Mackinaw of E. Bridgewater; Michelle Guerreiro of Holbrook; Melanie Figueiredo of S. Barre, MA; Elizabeth and Denise Melchionne both of Hilton Head, SC. Great grandfather of Alicia Mackinaw of Barre. Brother of Albert Melchionne of Plymouth and Ernest Melchionne of Brockton. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Friday at 8 am. Funeral Mass in Christ the King Parish (St. Colman) at 9 am. Burial in Union Cemetery, Brockton. Obituary
Mr. Melchionne died Monday at the Sachem Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in East Bridgewater after a brief illness. He was born in Revere a son of the late Angelo and Philomena (Russo) Melchionne and was raised and educated in South Boston. For many years he had resided in Brockton before moving to East Bridgewater in 1971. During WW II Mr. Melchionne served in the US Navy as a Chief Boatswain Mate. He was stationed in the South Pacific and was awarded the Purple Heart.
Following the war he returned to Brockton and opened Zeke’s Hardware Store on Grove Street. He also owned hardware stores in South Boston and Worcester. He retired as a maintenance man with WHDH Channel 5.
Mr. Melchionne was also an antiques dealer and owned Tony’s Antiques showing at many antique shows and flea markets.
In his younger years Mr. Melchionne played baseball with local teams and had been a team mate of Rocky Marciano. He was also an amateur boxer and an avid baseball fan who loved the New York Yankees.
He is survived by 2 sons and 2 daughters Natalie L. Mackinaw of Bridgewater; Dennis Melchionne and his wife Ellen of Hilton Head, SC; George A. Melchionne of E. Bridgewater and Colleen Melchionne of NY. He leaves 5 grandchildren and a great grand daughter.
He is survived by 2 brothers Brother of Albert Melchionne of Plymouth and Ernest Melchionne of Brockton and many nieces and nephews
He was the husband of the late Natalie (Rogers) Melchionne and brother of the late Edward, Charles, Peter, Michael, John, Frederick Melchionne, Lucy Rideout and Nancy McMasters
