Aristofanis Art Krikis, 80, of Brockton, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2015 at his home in Brockton under the care of his loving family. He was the beloved husband of 54 years of Ifigenia Virginia (Papanicolaou) Krikis, and treasured father of Nina and Maria Krikis.
Born September 21, 1934 in Thessaloniki, Greece, he was the son of the late Ioannis Krikis and Marianthi (Tefariki) Krikis.
Art was a self-employed home builder and developer for over 30 years, a career he taught to and shared with both his daughters. His first career was in electronics which he learned from his father, taught at Euclides College, and continued in the United States after he emigrated at the age of 26.
Art was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Brockton where he served in many capacities over the years of his membership, including serving on the Building Committee when the Oak Street Church was built. Most recently he enjoyed his participation in the choir, and teaching adult Greek language classes.
He is survived by his wife Ifigenia Virginia (Papanicolaou) Krikis; his daughters, Maria Krikis and Ourania Christina Nina Krikis; his brother-in-law, Alex Kotsiopoulos; his nephew, Kostandinos Charles Kotsiopoulos and his wife Dorian; his great-nephew, Nicholas; his great-niece and godchild, Alyssa. He is also survived by many loved ones in Greece including nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and grand-nieces, and dear friends. He was the brother of the late Nikolaos and Mixalis Krikis and brother-in-law of the late Garifalia Litsa Kotsiopoulos.
Art loved his adopted country of the United States, but also loved his original home country of Greece which he visited often with his wife. He will be missed by his nephew and godson Ioannis Krikis, his wife Despina and their children Ifigenia, Mixalis and Filiana; his niece Aspasia Liolios, her husband Antonis and their children Katerina and Michaela; his nephew Ioannis Krikis, his wife Iro, and their children Nikoletta and Pavlina; his niece Mary Papadimitriou, her husband Kostandinos and their children Dimitri and Eliza; his sister-in-law Despina Krikis; and his dear friends Anastasios and Theodora Angelidis and their family.
Funeral Information
Funeral from the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Thursday, January 8th at 10:00AM followed by a funeral service in the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 457 Oak St., Brockton at 11:00AM. Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. Calling hours in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home Wednesday 5:00-8:00PM.
