Arlene B. “Betty” (Burr) Picanzo 76 years, of Raynham formerly of Brockton died Thursday July 23, 2009 at the Morton Hospital after a period of failing health. She was the loving wife for 55 years of James J. Picanzo, Jr. Betty was born and raised in Brockton a daughter of the late Roy and Ethel (Phillips) Burr and was a resident of the city for most of her life before moving to Raynham. She was a graduate of Avon High School class of 1951.
Betty had been a home health aide for NHI health service for several years. For most of her life she was a homemaker devoted to her husband, children and grandchildren. She loved cooking and entertaining, knitting, crocheting and yard sale browsing. While a resident of Pine Hill Estates in Raynham Betty became a member of the Red Hat Society.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her five children James J. Picanzo, III and his wife Carolyn of Dartmouth, MA; Rosemarie Maki of Middleboro; Michael R. Picanzo and his wife Cindy of Brockton; Linda A. Kavgic and her husband George of Wareham and Christopher E. Picanzo and his fiancée Kim Edwards of Brockton. She was the grandmother of 18 including the late Tommy Maki and great grandmother of 7. Betty was the sister of Eleanor McRae of Plymouth, Lillian Donahue of Raynham, Muriel Newell of Plymouth, Robert Burr of Brockton and the late Charles, Donald, Russell and Carlton Burr, Florence Tobin and Ruth Perrow. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Monday at 10:30am. Burial in Coweeset Cemetery. Visiting hours Sunday 3-7 pm.
