Armando G. Vieira, 67, of Raynham, Massachusetts, passed away on April 27, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 15, 1958, in Brava, Cape Verde Islands, to the late Joao Casimiro Vieira and Rosa (Djodja) Gibau Vieira. Armando traveled to Portugal at the age of 16, and later made the journey to the United States at 27 years old, where he built his life and family. Known for his kindness, Armando touched the lives of many and will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend.
He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Maria Meireles Vieira, as well as his children, Adriao (Dio) Vieira, John (Johnny) Vieira, and Amanda Vieira. He was a caring and meaningful presence in the lives of his stepchildren and their wives, John and Denise Meireles, Lee and Gale Meireles, and Chris and Nidia Meireles, with whom he shared a close and lasting bond.
Armando additionally leaves behind his grandchildren, Lara Vieira, Isabella Vieira, Adrion Vieira, Jaila Parker, Alaya Neal, Grayson Meireles, Kai Meireles, and Elias Meireles.
He is further survived by his mother, Rosa (Djodja) Gibau Vieira, his siblings and their wives: Edgar and Cidalia (Dai) Vieira, Estella and Sebastian Silva, Joao (Joãozinho) and Domingas (Minga) Vieira, David Vieira, Constantina (Fidjinha) and John Paulo, Pedro and Ana Marie Vieira, Paulo and Diana Vieira, and Ilda and Larry Fontes, along with twenty-two nieces and nephews.
Armando dedicated 41 years of service to the Steamship Authority, where he was highly respected for his hard work and dedication. When not working, he was an enthusiastic player of cards and mancala (urin) with family and friends. He was a proud member of Grupo Cretcheu and Bisca Club, where he shared many laughs and good times. Known for his sense of humor, Armando often made people laugh and had a special way of lifting the spirits of those around him.
Family time was important to him; he enjoyed traveling with his loved ones, creating lasting memories wherever he went. In his quiet time, Armando loved fishing, gardening, and farming.
Each year, he took pride in planting a garden at his mother’s home, a beautiful reflection of his care for both family and tradition.
Armando will be remembered most for the love he had for his family and the joy he found in being a grandfather. He cherished spending time with his grandchildren, who brought him great happiness and pride throughout his life. His legacy of kindness, humor, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit remains with the family he loved so dearly.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, May 3, 2026 from 4-7pm at the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rte 123) Brockton. His funeral service will be held on Monday, May 4, 2026 at 9am from the funeral home with a Mass at 10:30am at St. Edith Stein Church, 71 E Main St, Brockton. Burial will follow in Melrose, Cemetery, Brockton.
