Arthur P.
Brasill, Sr.
June 9, 1935 – June 20, 2023
Arthur P. Brasill, Sr., 88, of Hanson passed away peacefully on June 20, 2023 with his family by his side after a period of failing health. He was the loving husband of Margaree (Rowell) Brasill for 67 years. Born on June 9, 1935 in Brockton, he was the son of the late Paul S. and Josephine (Gorman) Brasill.
Arthur joined the United States Marines in 1953 at the age of 18 and was stationed in Miami, Florida where he met his wife, Margie. He was very proud of his service to our country and talked about it often. In 1956, they moved to his hometown of Brockton where they lived and raised their family. He was a sheet metal worker for Local 17 until his retirement. He was very proud that some of his children and grandchildren followed in his footsteps and chose to work in Local 17 also. He and Margie loved to travel to her home state of Alabama to visit family and collect gourds and wood products for their craft shows. He enjoyed his home in Hanson, (where he served on the Finance Committee for several years) walking in the woods and driving his bulldozer. The annual Easter Egg hunt was one of his favorite events and enjoyed by all his family, particularly the grandchildren. Most of all, he loved and enjoyed his family.
In addition to his wife, Margie, Arthur is survived by his children, Ronald Brasill of Brockton, Pamela Berglund and her husband Richard of Easton, Arthur Brasill, Jr. and his wife Lorna of Bridgewater, James Brasill and his wife Pamela of East Bridgewater, and Terri Creney and her husband Michael of Hingham; his sisters, Marion Kelliher of Easton, and June Brasill of Brockton; his Sister-in-law Brenda Pettry and her husband Carmie of Alabama. 14 Grandchildren, 19 Great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was also the Father-in-law of the late Nancy Brasill (wife of Ronald), Brother-in -law of the late Bill Rowell of Alabama, and the late John Kelliher, and the Great-grandfather of the late Jordan McGrath-Edlund.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 27th at 10:00 a.m. at the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 441 Main St. (Rt. 28), West Bridgewater. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. Calling hours Monday, June 26th, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.
