Obituary

Arthur V. “Mac” McCarthy, Sr., age 88, of Brockton, died peacefully at his home on December 12, 2022. Arthur was the devoted husband for 60 years of the late Margaret T. (Keohane) McCarthy. Born in Medford, he was the son of the late Jeremiah J. and Frances A. (Duncan) McCarthy. Mac was raised in Revere and was a graduate of Revere High School. He also attended Boston University and Suffolk University.

For over 35 years, he worked in the garment industry, retiring as an Inventory Control Supervisor. He was a funny and fun loving family man who enjoyed spending time with his wife and children. While his children were young, he was their Little League Manager. Arthur also enjoyed dancing to Irish music with his wife Peggy, bowling and going to the dog track.

Arthur is survived by his three children Arthur McCarthy, Jr. of Walpole, Theresa Flynn of Raleigh, NC and Kevin McCarthy of Randolph. He was the grandfather of Sean, Ryan and Aidan Flynn and Dierdre, Liam and Lucas McCarthy. He was the brother of Ann Caplan of Northridge, CA and the late Joseph McCarthy.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, December 15 from 4-7pm at the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street, (Rte 123) Brockton. A Graveside Service will be held at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton on Friday at 10:00am.
