Obituary

Arthur L. Selden (Mishe-Natacham) Arthur L. Selden (Mishe-Natacham) 61, of Springfield and formerly of Nashua N.H. died Thursday, April 24, 2008 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. Born October 5, 1946, in Boston, he was the son of Thelma (Wright) Selden of Boston and the late John L. Selden. Raised in Boston he graduated from Boston Trade School. Mishe-Natachaman was a veteran who served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Europe. Mr. Selden was a member of the Natick Nipmuc Indian Council and served as Vice President of Nipmuk Nashawonk In., The Deer Island Memorial Committee, and the Confederation of Nipmuk Tribes. Arthur was a former Nipmuc Nation Council member. He was a traditional championship dancer who traveled throughout New England, the United States, and Canada competing in Pow-Wows. He was an American Indian Drummer and Singer. Arthur also represented Nipmuc people at Native American Conferences. He was an electronic technician for Raytheon. Mr. Selden lived in Springfield for a short time spending most of his life living in Nashua N.H. He was a great mentor of children and a man of nature who was also a great hunter. He is survived by his children, Dana Selden of Manchester N.H., Cecily Selden and Tanya Selden both of Springfield, and John A. Selden of Nashua N.H.; his mother, Thelma Selden of Boston; his two brothers and sister, John L. Selden, Jr. and Ronald J. Selden both of Brockton and Eugenia Wright of Boston; he is also survived by six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Information A funeral service will be held in the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (RT123) Brockton on Wednesday, April 3oth at 2:00PM followed by a private cremation. Calling hours in the Russell Pica Funeral Home Wednesday 11:00AM-2:00PM.
