Aucilia Gomes Mendes Aucilia Gomes Mendes , 63, of Brockton, died Monday, November 3, 2008 at her home in Brockton under the care of her family and hospice. She was the wife of Joao Violanta Mendes. Born December 24, 1944 in Brava, Cape Verde, she was the daughter of the late Antonio Nicaleto and Emilia Gomes. Mrs. Mendes came to Brockton in 1967 where she worked for Plymouth Rubber Company and Concord Foods. She was a communicant of St. Edith Stein Parish. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband, Joao Violanta Mendes; her children, John Mendes, Jr., Linda Xavier, Joanne Mendes, and Anthony Mendes; her grandchildren, Johnny, Tyler, Celia, Jacklyn, Malik, Myles, Antonia, Jazmine, Nina, and Anthony, Jr.; her sisters and brothers, Gracia Gomes, Lucia DeBarros, Joaquim Gomes, Mariana Lobo, Joe Gomes, Kathy Brito, Maria Nicaleto, and Raymond Nicaleto; she is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Funeral from the Russell Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Friday, November 7th at 9:00AM followed by a funeral mass in St. Edward/St Edith Stein Parish, 71 East Main St., Brockton at 10:00AM.
