Our dear mother Aurelia (Inglesa) C. Fontes sadly passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at home with family by her side. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her. She had many friends and was a well-loved member of the Cape Verdean community in Brockton and in Cova Figueira. Inglesa was born on January 28, 1937 to Maria Dasdores Fontes Monteiro and Jose Do Carmo Monteiro in Cova Figueira, Fogo, Cape Verde Islands. She grew up in Cova Figueira with her parents and two siblings; Edith Fontes Monteiro Veiga and Lino Fontes Monteiro. Inglesa was married to the late Antonio Joaquin Fontes on January 10, 1953, making their home in the same place where they were both born. In 1984 she moved to the USA where she settled with her family in Brockton. She lived there until last Saturday. Her home was open to everyone. Friends and family would visit her and would stay for days, weeks, months and even years. Inglesa was married until our father passed away on March 26, 2000. Inglesa is survived by her family: the late Pedro S. Fontes and his four children and grandchild, Catarina Martins and her two children, Maxima Fontes and her three children, Fatima Fontes and her daughter, Isabel Lopes and her two children and grandchildren, and Jose Fontes and his two daughters. She also was survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral from the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., Brockton on Thursday, June 23rd at 9:30 AM to St. Edith Stein Parish, 71 E. Main St., Brockton where a funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, June 22nd in the funeral home from 4:00-8:00 P.M.
