Obituary

Barbara E. (Corthell) (Barling) Lounge, age 93, of Brockton, died November 10, 2013, at West Acres Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late George Lounge and Eugene Barling. Born and raised in Whitman, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Margaret (Hayes) Corthell. Barbara was a graduate of Whitman High School, and had been employed by Howard Johnson’s Food Manufacturing Plant in Brockton for 20 years, retiring in 1977. She was a longtime communicant of Holy Ghost Church in Whitman, and enjoyed bowling, travel and reading.

Barbara is survived by three daughters, Jeanne Cogswell of Sebastian, FL, Susanne Cameron of Brockton and Michele Barling of Marblehead; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; a sister M. Alberta Asack of West Bridgewater; a brother Robert Corthell of East Bridgewater and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Thomas Barling and sister of the late Richard Corthell and Mary Benson.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street, (Rte 123) Brockton, Wednesday 4-7pm. A Remembrance Service will be held in the funeral home Thursday at 10am followed by burial in Pine Hill Cemetery.
