IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barbara F.
(Mehl) Deveney
March 12, 1940 – November 20, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara (Mehl) Deveney, after a brief period of failing health.
Barbara was born March 12th, 1940, to Wallace and Camille Mehl in Brockton, Ma. After graduating from Brockton High in 1958, she went on to secretarial school and started her career in Boston in medical research. Most recently and up until retirement, she was Dr. Coutu's Executive Assistant at Cardinal Cushing Hospital in Brockton.
Barbara had a profound love of nature and could most often be found in her garden tending to her flowers, caring for a critter in need, feeding the birds, or exploring the bike paths down the cape with her husband Mark. A talented pianist and poet, there wasn't a composer or author she didn't know of.
Barbara had a sharp memory and often reminisced about the good old days growing up with her five siblings as well as summer days spent at the Montello pool as a lifeguard, swim instructor, and the lead of the water ballet team.
Predeceased by her husband of 50 years Mark Deveney, parents Wallace and Camille, her sister Patricia " Pat" Charbonneau and her husband Frank. Survived by her beloved brothers Fredrick " Fred" and wife Marilyn, Walter " David" and his late wife Rosa William " Bill" and his wife Sandra " Sandy" and sister Mary and her late husband Ernie. Barbara was the aunt to many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and nephews. Also fur niece and nephew Sissy and Tiny, with whom she shared a special bond. She will be dearly missed by all that knew her.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Animal Protection Center of Southeastern Massachusetts in her name.
