Obituary

Barbara M. (Olson) Southworth, age 100 of Brockton, died Monday August 21, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late John J. Southworth for 59 years. Barbara was born in Brockton a daughter of the late Otto and Margaret (Hannon) Olson and remained a lifelong resident of the city.
A 1935 graduate of Brockton High School, Barbara had worked for New England Telephone Company for over 40 years and retired as an administrator. She had enjoyed golf, travel, cruises, reading and was still solving daily crossword puzzles.

For many years Barbara was a member of “The Club”, a group of her workplace friends. She will be remembered as a quiet and reserved lady who loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by her three daughters Jane Southworth of Brockton, Carol Porter and her husband Donald of Duxbury and Margaret Kearney of Brockton. She also leaves 5 grandchildren David, Steven and Timothy Porter, Corin Luddy and Christine Kearney and 8 greatgrandchildren Matthew, Nicholas, Jonathan, Joshua, Andrew, Gabriella, Julia and Eleanor. She was the sister of the late Helen and William Olson.

Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (rte. 123) Brockton on Thursday 4-8pm. The procession will gather at the funeral home on Friday at 9:30am for a funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 10:30am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
