Obituary

Barbara M. (Sullivan) Toomey, age 98, a longtime resident of Easton, died peacefully at her daughter’s home in Reno, NV on January 30, 2024. Born and raised in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Etta (Martin) Sullivan.

Barbara was a 1943 graduate of Brockton High School and graduated from Katherine Gibbs School in 1945. In 1992, she retired as Executive Secretary from Stonehill College.

She enjoyed playing bridge and bingo, knitting, spending time with family and friends and traveling. She played golf until the age of 95.

Barbara was the mother of Marjorie S. Quaglieri and her husband Frank of Reno, NV, Barbara A. Foley and her husband Richard Boghosian of Cranston, RI and John F. Toomey and his wife Janice of N. Easton. She was the grandmother of Michael, William, Erin, Gregory, Max, Terrence, Madeline and Natalie. Great grandmother of 8 and sister of the late Ruth Woodward and William J. Sullivan, Jr. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street, (Rte 123) Brockton, on Saturday, February 24 from 9-10am. A Funeral Mass will be held in Holy Cross Church, 225 Purchase Street, S. Easton, at 10:30am, followed by burial in Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
