Basil B. "BB" Walsh Basil B. "BB"Walsh, 79, of South Yarmouth died Friday, May 18, 2007 at his home in South Yarmouth surrounded by his devoted family. He was the husband of Mary (Connolly) Walsh for 53 years. Born November 14, 1929 in Brockton, he was the son of the late Basil B. Walsh and Agnes E. (Bernier) Walsh. He was raised in Brockton and was a star athlete in baseball, basketball, and football during his youth. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a policeman for the Massachusetts State Police retiring in 1979 as a Staff Sgt. He also worked as a ranger at The Cape Cod National Seashore Park for 10 years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Basil was a life member of the Hawks Nest Hunting Group. He also enjoyed companionship of his friends at their weekly poker night. His greatest love was rejoicing with his beloved wife Mary, raising their wonderful five children and their extended family. He is survived by his wife, Mary (Connolly) Walsh of South Yarmouth; his children, Stephen G. Walsh and his partner Cathy Derlof of Jericho, Vermont, David J. Walsh and his wife Heidi of Sandwich, Michael Walsh of Sandwich, Christopher B. Walsh and his wife Jessica "Jess" of South Yarmouth, Kathleen M. "Kathy" Arnold and her husband Robert of Harwich; his grandchildren, Casey Walsh, Joseph Walsh, Meghan Walsh, Allison Walsh, Kristen Bardsley, Amy Bardsley, Jillian Arnold, Kelsey Arnold, Brian Walsh, Kailey Walsh; his brother, Brian Walsh of West Yarmouth; his sister, Maureen Walsh of Yarmouthport. Funeral Information Funeral from the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth on Monday, May 21st at 10:00AM thence to St. Pius X Church, 5 Barbara St., South Yarmouth where a funeral mass will be celebrated for the repose of his soul at 11:00AM. Interment will follow in Chandler Gray Cemetery, West Yarmouth. Calling hours will be held in the Hallett Funeral Home on Sunday 4:00PM-7:00PM.
