Online Obituaries Beausejour Joseph Charlot, 85, of Canton, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. He was the husband of Marie R. (Exantus) Charlot. Born March 4, 1932 in Dessalines, Haiti he was a son of the late Evangile Charlot and Isemanie Jean-Baptiste. Beausejour worked as a tailor in Haiti. In 1978, he came to Boston and was soon able to bring his wife and children to join him. By 1990, Beausejour and Marie had saved enough money to open their own business. Still in operation today, Bon Appetit restaurant has become a mainstay of Haitian cuisine on Blue Hill Avenue in Dorchester, Massachusetts. He became a United States citizen in 2001, yet never lost his love for his native country. He visited Haiti regularly until health issues made international travel impossible. In his later years, Beausejour enjoyed the company of his grandchildren, the views from his Canton home, and relaxing at his restaurant, conversing with customers and friends. Beausejour was predeceased in death by his parents and a brother, Duperman Charlot. He is survived by his wife, Marie R. (Exantus) Charlot of Canton; his children: Firmin Charlot of Mason MI, Chrismin Charlot of Canton, Linda Charlot-Wallace of Sharon and Price Charlot of Portsmouth, NH; Brothers: Nolah Charlot of Boston, Arnoux Charlot of Long Island, and Mathurin Charlot of Haiti; Sisters: Lucie Cadet of Boston, and Neila Jean-Charles of Boston. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Angela and Veronica Wallace of Sharon, Brianna, Alexander and Ethan Charlot of Mason, Michigan, and Chrismin and Christopher Charlot of Canton, as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral Information A Funeral Mass will be celebrated for the repose of his soul on Saturday, May 27th at St. Angelas Parish, 1544 Blue Hill Avenue (Mattapan) Boston at 11:30AM. Interment to follow in Forest Hills Cemetery, Boston. Calling hours will be held in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (RT123) Brockton on Friday from 4:00PM-8:00PM.
