Obituary

Clausen, of Brockton, February 14, 2002, Bertha I. (Sjaastad) Clausen, 96 years. Mother of Anna May Bell and the late Henry Hansen. Grandmother of Carl McArthur, George Bals, Ganaan Hillier, Ardyce Henderson and Rod Bals. Aunt of Swanhild Gary of Seekonk formerly of Brockton and Angus Wahlquist of Rockaway, NJ.

A Memorial Gathering will be held in the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Sunday 2-5pm. Burial will be in Ivandelle Cemetery, Somers NY.

Obituary Information

Mrs. Clausen died Thursday morning at her home. Born in Norway, she was the daughter of the late Gulik and Berta (Rasmine) Sjaastad. She was raised and educated in Norway and came to the United States at the age of 17, making her home in Brooklyn, New York. She had operated her own nursing home in Lincolndale, NY. Mrs. Clausen moved to Brockton in the mid 1980’s and had been a member of the Madrid Square Association. She enjoyed painting and making quilts.

She is survived by 1 daughter Anna May Bell of Norwalk Connecticut, 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 5 great great granchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. She also leaves many wonderful friends.
