Obituary

Bessie (Sives) (Clifford) Ventura, 84 years of Brockton, died July 9, 2009 at Forest View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wareham after a period of failing health. Born and raised in Moosic, PA, she was the daughter of the late Wallace F. and Gladys M. (Van Louvander) Sives. At the age of 18 Bess enlisted in the Army and served for two years during WWII. Following her discharge she settled in Brockton where she raised her family. She had been employed at Raytheon for four years and Sigma Instruments in Braintree for 20 years retiring in 1987.Bess enjoyed cooking, crafts, needlepoint on canvas, crocheting and travel.

She is survived by her children Robert W. Clifford of Manchester, CT, Wendy J. Stoddard of Middleboro and Donald J. Clifford, Jr. of Honolulu, HI; a stepson Dennis J. Clifford of NH; six grandchildren, Kimberly Robbins, Kerrin Innocenzi, Robert Clifford, Jr., Sarah Whinnem, Matthew Stoddard and Jordan Clifford; eight great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and her dear friend Charlie Alexander. She was the eldest of eight siblings.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Sunday 2-6pm. Burial will be held at a later date in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
