IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Billie Jean
Woodford
October 17, 1942 – October 28, 2023
Billie Jean (Nahas) Woodford, 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday afternoon, October 28, 2023, at her home in Bridgewater.
Billie, who was born and raised in Quincy, MA, was the daughter of Michael Nahas and Mary (Lahage) Ferris, and beloved step-daughter of Philip Ferris. She was the loving wife for 46 years of Gordon F. Woodford; they lived most of their married life and raised their family in Brockton.
Survivors include her brother, Michael Nahas (Helen "Mame" Holcomb) of Brookline and their daughter, Emily of Brooklyn, NY; three sons, Philip John Woodford (Cindy) of Brockton and their daughters, Jennifer, Julianna, and Jillian; James Woodford (Maureen) of Berkley; Gordon Woodford, Jr. (Tamra) of Raynham; four granddaughters, Jordan, Madison, Rylee, and Alexandra, and one grandson, Tyler. Along with sisters-in-law, Martha Sullivan, June Cordone, Josephine Woodford, and Deborah Finn, Billie is also survived by her dearest and best friend of over 60 years, Helena Svensson, her husband, Eddy, and their daughter and grandson, Mia and Larson, in addition to many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends.
Billie was preceded in death by her parents and step-father; and her husband, Gordon, on January 25, 2014.
After high-school, Billie attended cosmetology school and subsequently became a hairstylist, a lifelong career she enjoyed, only retiring due to illness at age 78.
Billie was a beautiful woman inside and out, a beauty that never faded over the years. She had a zest for life, and loved being surrounded by family and friends – the bigger and noisier the gathering, the better! Over the years, she loved shopping trips, travel with family girlfriends (Pat Ditullio and Helen Isaac), bingo, playing KENO over lunch with her sisters-in-law, pedicures with her granddaughers, or catching up on her favorite reality TV shows. And, she especially loved to be showered with kisses by all of her grandpuppies.
Despite her illness over the past few years, Billie never refused an invitation, and in turn, was also the consummate host. She loved welcoming friends and family into her home, offering a plenitude of refreshments, including Lebanese goodies, pastries, coffee, and anything else she could fit on her dining room table. Always, her gatherings were characterized by wonderfully spirited and enriching conversation, and lots of laughs. Billie's exuberance was unique and everlastingly memorable.
Undoubtedly, Billie's greatest pleasure in life was spending time with her darling grandchildren. Her pride, devotion, and loyalty to them was unparalleled, and her unconditional love for them was second to none.
It is with great and deep sadness that we all must say goodbye; we love you, Billie Jean. Rest in peace.
