Obituary

Bruce William Lorry, US Marine and photojournalist, died August 15, 2015 at the VA Medical Center in Brockton. Born in Stoneham, in 1949, Bruce spent most of his life in New England. As a Marine he served in North Africa and Okinawa, returning to Boston in 1970 and eventually making a career of his first love, photography. He was never happier than when he was capturing the moment with his lens, whether it was the touchdown pass at a Patriots game or the opening of a delicate flower. Bruce also helped others whenever and however he could. He was generous with his time and encouragement and made a positive difference in many lives.
Bruce was a fiercely independent spirit. He met and faced the many physical challenges that assailed him with a courage and dry humor that were an inspiration and a learning experience for those of us who loved him. He leaves behind his brother, Richard Butler and his wife Carol of West Grove, PA and his god-daughter, Judy Frey of Weymouth.
Services with full military honors will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at 1pm.
