Obituary

Bryan Marshall Gallagher passed away peacefully in his home on December 26, 2021. He loved his family and friends dearly. Despite his battle with multiple illnesses, he considered himself to be the most fortunate man knowing how cherished he was by his loved ones. Bryan was born in Birmingham, England, on February 11, 1940 to Frederick Gallagher and Ellen Gallagher (née Kelly). His father died in WWII when Bryan was three years old. His mother remarried to Ted Forsythe who Bryan loved and greatly respected. Bryan met the love of his life, Ann Gallager (née Budgen) at the age of 19 and it was love at first sight. They were married in July of 1960 at St. Mary the Virgin church in Kidlington village Oxfordshire, England. At the age of 22, fearless and determined, he immigrated to the United States on The Queen Mary with his wife Ann and eventually settled in West Bridgewater, MA. They have resided in the home they built here for over 55 years and were proud to become naturalized citizens. One of Bryan's passions was English football (soccer) and he was an avid Birmingham Blues fan. Bryan's love for English football was realized here in the United States, as he was instrumental in creating the Youth Soccer program for the West Bridgewater Youth Athletic Association. When there wasn't a football match to watch on TV, he could be found watching his favorite show MASH, improving his home both inside and out, tending to the pool, mowing the lawn, or in his garage building his next project. Bryan was a self taught and skilled furniture and cabinet maker, designing and building many of the furniture items in his home. His home was his absolute pride and joy. When Bryan wasn't taking care of his home, he was traveling the world with his wife Ann enjoying their retirement. He has visited over 60 countries with his favorite destinations being New Zealand, China, Switzerland, Hong Kong and of course his home country of England. He is survived by his wife of over 61 years, the love of his life Ann Gallagher of West Bridgewater, his son Bryan F. Gallagher of West Bridgewater, his daughter Elizabeth S. Conrad and her husband Daniel Conrad of West Bridgewater, his daughter Jennifer A. Smith and her husband Eric Smith of West Bridgewater, his grandchildren Julianne Conrad, Christopher Conrad, Mia Smith, Justin Smith, Kevin Gallagher, Paul Gallagher, his great-grandchild Keeva, and his many nieces and nephews and family in England. He is predeceased by his mother and father, and his two sisters Brenda Parker and Mavis Pearce. He will also be missed by his many grand-dogs, (Blaze, Chloe, Liberty, Bear, and Marble), who brought him great joy and laughter in his final days. Nothing was more important to Bryan than his family. He was a man of strength, kindness, support, respect, and a loving caretaker to everyone who knew him. He was the foundation that built our family and the glue that has held it together. He will be missed more than words can say. Special thanks and utmost gratitude to the Peritoneal Dialysis Program and Dana-Farber at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center. May they know what their kindness, compassion, and friendship meant to Bryan and his family in his final months. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Elizabeth's Medical Center, Dialysis Unit in memory of Bryan M. Gallagher.
