Carmen M. Santiago

Carmen Milagros Santiago (Cuevas), age 76, a long time resident of Brockton, Massachusetts, passed away on May 4, 2026. She was born on September 5, 1949, in Santurce, Puerto Rico, to Geronimo Cuevas and Francisca Lopez.

Carmen devoted her life to her family and home, offering love, warmth, and care to everyone around her. Alongside her husband, she proudly owned and operated La Única, a family run bakery and café in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, from 1988 to 1994. The bakery reflected Carmen herself—welcoming, hardworking, and filled with warmth.

She was best known for her amazing cooking and baking talents that extended far beyond the bakery and into her home, where her food brought family and friends together and created countless cherished memories. Her kitchen was a place of comfort, generosity, and love. Her recipes and traditions will live on through those she nurtured.

Carmen shared 55 loving years of marriage with her husband, Miguel Angel Santiago, Sr., together they created a strong and devoted family.

Carmen is survived by her beloved husband; her children Idaliz Alicea, Jose Alicea and his wife Katie Alicea, Carmen Pereira and her fiancé Mark Rappoli, and Miguel A. Santiago, Jr. and his fiancé Syreena Headen.

She was a proud and loving grandmother to Stephen Lauber, Dennis I. Lauber, III and his wife Karen Lauber, Derek Lauber, Nicole Coward, Anastasia Greer, Jeffrey Coward, Jose M. Alicea, Gabriella Pereira, Elizabeth Pereira, Gabriel Pereira and his wife Merari Pereira, Stephanie Claytor and her husband Ryan Claytor, Michael Pereira, Miguel Angel Santiago, III, Daniel Mereste, and Charlize Santiago.

She will also be lovingly remembered by her 18 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Carmen is survived by her siblings Rosa Cuevas and Luis Cuevas. She was predeceased by her siblings Marcial Cuevas, Geronimo Cuevas, and Aida Cuevas, and by her cherished grandson Daniel Lauber.

Carmen’s legacy lives on through her family, her traditions, recipes, and the love she so freely gave. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were blessed to know her.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026 from 5-8pm at the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont St (Rte 123) Brockton. All are welcome to join Carmen’s family in Celebration of her Life and share your favorite stories of her.

Carmen dedicó su vida a su familia y a su hogar, ofreciendo amor, calidez y cuidado a todos los que la rodeaban. Junto a su marido, fue orgullosa propietaria y gestionó La Única, una panadería y cafetería familiar en Bayamón, Puerto Rico, desde 1988 hasta 1994. La panadería reflejaba a la propia Carmen: a cogedora, trabajadora y llena de calidez.

Era conocida principalmente por sus increíbles talentos culinarios y horneadores, que iban mucho más allá de la panadería y llegaban a su hogar, donde su comida reunía a familiares y amigos y creaba innumerables recuerdos muy preciados. Su cocina era un lugar de confort, generosidad y amor. Sus recetas y tradiciones vivirán a través de quienes ella cuidó.

Carmen compartió 55 años de amor matrimonial con su marido, Miguel Ángel Santiago, Sr.; juntos formaron una familia fuerte y entregada.

Carmen deja en vida a su querido esposo; sus hijos Idaliz Alicea, Jose Alicea y su esposa Katie Alicea, Carmen Pereira y su prometido Mark Rappoli, y Miguel A. Santiago, Jr. y su prometida Syreena Headen.

Fue una abuela orgullosa y cariñosa de Stephen Lauber, Dennis I. Lauber, III y su esposa Karen Lauber, Derek Lauber, Nicole Coward, Anastasia Greer, Jeffrey Coward, Jose M. Alicea, Gabriella Pereira, Elizabeth Pereira, Gabriel Pereira y su esposa Merari Pereira, Stephanie Claytor y su marido Ryan Claytor, Michael Pereira, Miguel Angel Santiago, III, Daniel Mereste y Charlize Santiago. También será recordada con cariño por sus 18 bisnietos, así como por muchos sobrinos, sobrinos y amigos.

Carmen deja en vida a sus hermanos Rosa Cuevas y Luis Cuevas. La precedieron en la muerte sus hermanos Marcial Cuevas, Geronimo Cuevas y Aida Cuevas, así como su querido nieto Daniel Lauber.

El legado de Carmen perdura a través de su familia, sus tradiciones, recetas y el amor que le dio tan libremente. Se la echará profundamente de menos y será recordada para siempre por todos los que tuvieron la bendición de conocerla.
