Carol Jean (Strachan) Powers, 67, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2022 at the Boston Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Hugh Francis Powers.
Born on December 31, 1954 in Boston, she was the daughter of William and Cecelia (Mellan) Strachan. Carol was passionate about education and was the first member of her family to earn a college degree, graduating from Boston State College in 1979 and later her Master's in Education from Salem State University. She worked as an elementary school teacher, most notably at Saint Edith Stein School where Carol was also a parishioner.
Carol was an active member of the Mary Cruise Kennedy Senior Center, Cursillo and the Sons of Italy. Carol was also a longtime volunteer at Camp Fatima's EC Week, where she utilized her incredible artistic and vocal talents to bring joy to campers with intellectual and physical challenges.
Carol is survived by her children, Brandon Powers and his wife Dara of Brockton, Christopher Powers and his partner Victoria of Brockton, Colin Powers of Brockton and Siobhan Powers and her partner Joseph of Warwick, RI. She was a loving sister to Steven Strachan, Wayne Strachan, Michele Strachan, Renee Strachan, William Strachan and Jason Strachan and a proud Mee-Maw to Lucy, Alice, Rose, Solomon, Maggie and Winnie. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated for the repose of her soul on Tuesday, March 15th at 10:00AM in St. Edith Stein Parish, 71 East Main St., Brockton. Interment will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 12:30PM. Calling hours Monday, March 14th in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St.,(Rt.123) Brockton from 5:00 to 8:00PM.
