***To watch the live stream of Mrs. DeCosta's wake, please click on the following link: Carole DeCosta's Wake Service Carole Ann (Johnson) DeCosta, 81, of West Bridgewater, passed away at her home under the care of her family on Saturday, July 31, 2021. She was the loving wife of 60 years to the late John DeCosta, Jr. Born July 29, 1940 in Taunton, MA. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Esther (Ricketts) Johnson. She was the Sister of Joseph Johnson of Connecticut and Robert Johnson of Colorado. Carole received her LPN from Cape Cod Hospital School of Nursing where she worked and raised her family in Falmouth, MA. Later the family relocated to Brockton to give her 2 deaf children a better chance of schooling. The family eventually settled in West Bridgewater. Carole and her Husband successfully ran John DeCosta, Jr. Inc. Lock and Security for the past 43 years. Through Carole's commitment and strong work ethic, she was self-taught in accounting and successfully ran the daily financial aspects of the business. Everyone that came to the shop loved her. She was kind, empathetic and never left anyone out. She rarely complained and would do anything that was asked of her. She made her place on this earth and will forever be missed. She was a member of the Parents Association of the Boston School for the Deaf, The Associated Locksmiths of America, Massachusetts Locksmiths Association & The Stitch and Bitch Club. Carole was an avid reader. She had a true gift for quilting and crocheting. She loved and enjoyed all of her grandchildren. Carole is survived by her children; Daniel of Tijeras, New Mexico, Andrew and his wife Donna of Westbrook, ME, Joseph and his wife Elizabeth of Berkley, Peter and his wife Debra of Taunton, Catherine Essex and her husband Robert of St. Augustine, FL and Cynthia Danksewicz and her husband Alfred of Bridgewater; beloved grandchildren; Nicholas, Paula, Matthew, Brittany, Mariah, Colin, Julia, Jenna Rose, Barbara, Elsie, Alfred III, Ivabella, Robert, Henry, and great-grandchild, Adam. As well as several nieces, nephews and extended families. Funeral from the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 441 So. Main St.,(Rt.28) West Bridgewater on Thursday, August 5th at 10:30am thence to St. Ann's Church, 103 No. Main St., West Bridgewater where a funeral Mass will be celebrated for the repose of her soul at 11:30am. Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater. Calling hours Wednesday from 4:00 to 6:30pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to: Old Colony Hospice, 321 Manley St., West Bridgewater, MA 02379.
