Carole A. (Bumpus) Papas, 73 years of Brockton passed peacefully at home on Friday, August 29, 2008, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Brockton, the daughter of the late Katherine (Smith) and Frederick A. Bumpus. She was a graduate of Brockton High School Class of 1953 and was a graduate of the Chandler Secretarial School in Boston.

Carole worked for The City of Brockton School Dept. in the food service program for many years and for Paula Young Inc. (formerly Wigs By Paula) in Easton as a data processor, for quite some time, retiring several years ago.

Carole was a kind, gentle person who would put the needs of others before her own. She enjoyed spending time with people and was a person whom others enjoyed spending time with. Carole was a long standing member of the Brockton Democratic City Committee as well as the D.W. Field Park Association. Carole loved reading, travel and cooking, but what gave her the most enjoyment in life was spending time with her family.

She was the devoted wife of the late George Papas, beloved mother of Sandra Papas Summers and her husband David of Brockton, and her son Myles of Alabama. Carole was the cherished grandmother of Sandy Papas of Brockton and the dear sister of Edward Bumpus of Plymouth and the late Frederick Bumpus.
She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and good friends.

A Memorial Visitation will be in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008 from 11-1 with a Service at 1pm.
