Obituary

Catarina “Mae” (DoCanto) Oliveira, age 92, of Brockton died peacefully Monday, March 11, 2013. Mae was born on September 30, 1920 in Fogo, Cape Verde to Manuel Resendes DoCanto and Rita Monteiro. She was the wife of the late Antonio Oliveira. In 1963 Mae came to the United States, and through the years was able to bring her family over, settling in the Roxbury Dorchester area. She loved to tell family stories, sew, dance and play bingo.

She was the mother of Belarmino Oliveira of Norton, Antonia Torres of Quincy, Anita Silva of Brockton, Rita Oliveira of Quincy, Maria Velasquez of Brockton, Maria Oliveira of Canton and Benvinda Oliveira Pires of Rhode Island and the late Auta DaRosa, Domingos Oliveira and Luis Oliveira; sister of Maria Rodrigues of Somerville, Laurinda Alves of Quincy, Ludovina DoCanto of Braintree, Justiniano DoCanto of Brazil, Licinio DoCanto of Milton and the late Adelino DoCanto, Luiza DaGraca, Christiano DoCanto and Jose DoCanto. She is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Thursday 4-8pm. The Funeral Procession will gather at the funeral home Friday at 9am for a Funeral Service in the Brockton Foursquare Church, 421 Torrey Street, Brockton at 10am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton.
