Catarina Ribeiro, of Brockton, passed away Saturday morning, January 11, 2020, at the Copley in Stoughton. She was the loving wife of Alexander Ribeiro. Born on March 15, 1940, in Fogo, Cape Verde, Catarina was the daughter of the late Agnelo Andrade and Augustinha (Goncalves) Andrade. Catarina was a fantastic cook, and enjoyed shopping, taking care of her grandchildren, and spending time with her loved ones. She was soft-spoken, very strong, and gave up her life to raise her family and help others raise theirs; she was the matriarch of our family. She was humble and loving. In addition to her husband, Alexander, Catarina is survived by her children, Estefania and Alvaro Lopes, Joao and Lenilda Ribeiro, Soajoana Ribeiro, Maria and Jose DePina, Luciano and Maria Ribeiro, Adelina and John Ribeiro, Maria and Cassio Ribeiro, Soazinha Ribeiro, and Isidora and Antonio Carvalho; her grandchildren, Elga, Aida, Elizabeth, Jennifer, Serina, Alexa, Suzi, Nivalda, Celsa, Djonzinho, Aguine, Catarina, Giovane, Andy, Alex, Jessica, Jason, Justin, CJ, Cassia, Ashley, Khalid, CJ, and Zane; and her siblings, Maria DeFatima Goncalves, Benvinda Goncalves, Maria Goncalves, and Ines Goncalves. Catarina was predeceased by her daughter, Augustinha Ribeiro and her brother Nicolau Andrade. Funeral from the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Friday, January 17th at 9:30AM followed by a funeral mass in St. Edith Stein Parish, 71 East Main St., Brockton at 10:30AM. Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. Calling hours in the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00-8:00PM.
