Powderly, of Brockton, May 28, 2005, Catherine R. (McCarthy) Powderly, 93 years. Wife of the late Harold F. Powderly, sister of Mary E. McCarthy and Timothy J. McCarthy both of Brockton and the late Eileen B. McCarthy and Margaret M. McCarthy.

Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Thursday at 8am. Funeral Mass in Christ the King Parish at 9am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting Hours Wednesday 4-6pm.

Obituary Information

Catherine R. (McCarthy) Powderly died Saturday at St. Joseph Manor. Born in Brockton, the daughter of the late Timothy and Ellen (Dineen) McCarthy, she had been a life long resident. She attended Brockton schools and graduated from the Williams School of Business in Brockton. After graduation she was employed in the offices of the George E. Keith Company. In 1966 she retired as head clerk of the Boston office of Division of Employment Security where she had been employed for 25 years. After her retirement she served as a volunteer at the Cardinal Cushing General Hospital for 10 years. She was a member of the AOH, St. Rita Auxiliary, a communicant of St. Margaret Church and a member of the Sodality Guild.

She is survived by one sister Mary E. McCarthy of Brockton, one brother Timothy J. McCarthy and his wife Kathryn of Brockton and several cousins. She was the wife of the late Harold F. Powderly and sister of the late Eileen B. and Margaret M. McCarthy
