Charly E. Barry, 70, passed away on July 18, 2020, peacefully in his home surrounded by those he loved most.
He was born in Weymouth on September 27, 1949, son of the late Arthur "Dick" and Mary (Nelson) Barry. Charly grew up in Braintree where he attended the local schools. Following High School Charly joined the Marines where he was placed in the I.T. (Information Technology) division. This set the course for Charly's future. He began his career in I.T. at The Federal Reserve Bank in Boston, MA. Later he would be transferred to their Los Angeles, CA offices, and eventually San Francisco, CA. He remained with the Federal Reserve, until his return to Boston, MA in 1987 where he began working for Fidelity Investments, in the I.T. department. Charly remained at Fidelity for 25+ years until his retirement.
Charly is survived by his 3 daughters Leah Cashman and her husband Pete Cashman, of Taunton, Rachael Doherty and her husband Dennis Doherty of East Bridgewater, and Sarah Bellevue and her husband Keith Bellevue of Mashpee, along with 7 grandchildren, Noah Bellevue, Micah Bellevue, Travis Cashman, Nikolas Doherty, Isaac Bellevue, Jason Cashman, and Ryan Doherty. Charly is also survived by his sister Mary McNamara of Braintree, and his nephew Sean McNamara, and niece Kelly McNamara.
Charly fiercely loved his family above all else. He was too smart for his own good, but a wealth of knowledge beyond what even Google could tell you. He was a passionate sports fan of all sports, from all cities. He loved history, was an avid movie watcher, and oddly a sucker for cheesy romantic films. Charly did not like everyone, but those he did, he loved intensely. He was a very intelligent, generous, and extremely humorous human. Charly will be deeply missed.
