Charles H. Young of Wareham passed away peacefully at home on January 17, 2025 at the age of 71. He was the son of the late John and Dorris Young. Charles was preceded in death by the love of his life, Donna Johnson Young.

Charles worked hard as an elevator mechanic for many years and went on to be a state elevator inspector for Massachusetts before retiring. He worked alongside his son, Jimmy and was the proud mentor to his youngest son.

If you knew Charlie, you knew his warm smile and big heart. Always quick to lend a helping hand, there was hardly anything that he couldn't repair. From fixing cars to refinishing his son's basements, he was always willing to lend a hand and his knowledge in these areas seemed endless.

Charlie never met a dog he didn't love, and there wasn't a dog that didn't love him in return. He spent his last years working at his son Charlie Jr's dog training facility, and you can be sure by the end of his shift, the dog cookie bins were empty. He volunteered much of his time with the non profit organization Four Legged Angels, helping veterans in need obtain service dogs.

Charles loved to play corn hole and had made many special friends while doing so. On many days, you could find Charlie fishing happily on his boat or along the shore with his sons. He enjoyed taking part in local fishing tournaments and won many awards. Cigarette in one hand and a fishing pole in the other, gazing at the sea in his happy place, this is how his friends and family will always remember him.

Charles is survived by his two sons; Charles H. Young Jr. and his daughter in law Suzanne Young and James J. Young and his girlfriend April Maze, his six granddaughters; Grace, Kathryn, Julia, Kaylee, Hannah and Scarlett, his sister Marlene Roberge and brothers; John Young and Mark Young. He also leaves behind his beloved dog Harry. He was preceded in death by his sisters; Susan Young, Carol Nash and Ann Marie Doherty.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, January 25th from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 441 South Main St., West Bridgewater, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater.
