Chia Yang Khang

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Chia Yang Khang, a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She passed away June 4, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born in Laos on June 8, 1947, Chia lived a life marked by resilience, sacrifice, and

devotion to her family. She immigrated to the U.S. in the 1980s, bringing with her traditions and values that would shape generations to come. Chia was first and foremost a caring homemaker who dedicated her life to nurturing her children, grandchildren, and extended family. Her home was a place of comfort and nourishment, where no one left hungry and everyone was welcome. She worked tirelessly to support not only her family in the U.S., but also loved ones in Laos, always giving whatever she could to help those around her

A gifted artist, Chia mastered the traditional Hmong art of paj ntaub (needlework), a craft she practiced for more than 60 years. Her intricate and beautiful handmade creations reflected both her remarkable talent and deep pride in her Hmong heritage. For over 30 years, she shared her paj ntaub with others at craft fairs, where many came to admire and purchase her pieces. Chia also found joy in gardening and growing fresh produce to feed her family. Whether tending her garden, preparing meals, sewing, or caring for loved ones, she expressed her love through her actions every day. She was also a singer of traditional Hmong folk songs, carrying forward the stories and culture of her people.

Chia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Chia Chue Khang. She leaves behind her loving children: daughter Mee Khang and husband Chue Nhia Vang; son Chou Khang and wife Fang Khang; son Ya Khang and wife Kristin Khang; son Blong Khang and wife Mai Lee; daughter Phua Khang; son Pao Khang and wife Nou Lee; son David Khang and wife Liav Lor; son Daniel Khang and wife Blia Yang; and daughter Pahoua Khang. She is also survived by more than 50 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren whose lives were enriched by her kindness, wisdom, and love.

Though our hearts are broken by her passing, we find comfort in the legacy she leaves behind-woven through her family, her art, her songs, and the many lives she touched. Her love, strength, and generosity will continue to guide us, and her memory will be treasured and always carried in our hearts.

Niam, Puj, Tais - Thov koj mus zoo os. We love you always.
