Chimene Jean Vernet, 80 of Brockton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center.

Chimene was born on August 7, 1943 in Limbe, Haiti, the daughter of the late Deruisseau Jean Vernet and Marguerite Destine. She grew up in Limbe and immigrated to the United States in 2014 in order to stay close to her 6 children. She was truly a woman of God and very active in the Galilee Church as a Deaconess. She will be remembered and sorely missed by everyone who knew her.

Chimene (Mato) had a passion to travel and being with her grandchildren. She was a tireless worker and always put her family first. She enjoyed reading the bible, singing, cooking, and taking walks around the neighborhood. She liked praying and praising God. She adored her children and grandchildren and made sure they put God at the center of their lives.

She is survived by her children Marie Cilotte Voltaire and her husband Wanick, Danielle Leger, Love Leger and his wife Emebert Messele, Adlynn Leger and her husband Robert McLean, Jan Bell Leger and wife Keiko and Lord Adam Leger; her grandchildren Wacil Voltaire, Warnick Voltaire, Noah Leger, Isabela Novanie Leger, Adison Leger, Valery Aki Leger, Dukenson Jr. Idore, Ethan Daniel McLean, Aiden William McLean and Destiny Vanessa McLean; and her brother Roseville Jean Vernet and his family.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 29th at 10:00 AM in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., Brockton followed by interment in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater. Calling hour prior to the service from 9:00-10:00 AM.

Following burial, a reception will be held in the Perfect Place, 2039 Main St., Brockton from 12:00-3:00 PM.
