Obituary

Christine Marie (Becker) McEnaney, 74 of North Dartmouth passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 6th with her family by her side. Born in Dorchester, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of David J. Becker, Sr. and Edith (McNutt) Becker.

Christine grew up in Braintree where she played field hockey, basketball, and softball, and played in the school band. Upon graduation she attended Quincy Junior College and finished her education at Northeastern University's Boston Bouve School of Health Sciences where she earned her degree in Physical Education.

She was a substitute teacher at Holbrook High School and coached field hockey, basketball, and softball. She was delighted to land her dream job in the West Bridgewater School system where she taught Physical Education for nearly 30 years. Upon her retirement the gymnasium at the Rose L. McDonald School was dedicated to her. Best known as "Mrs. M" to the myriad of children who passed through her gym. Whether she was teaching the little kids at Spring Street, Rose L. McDonald, or Howard Schools, or teaching both Health and Phys. Ed. at the Jr. Sr. High School, she enjoyed what she did and cared about her students. Christine coached basketball and softball at West Bridgewater High School and brought her softball team to the playoffs. She was always encouraging her students to do their best and be their best.

In time, she began to have the children of her former students in her classes, which brought her joy. She developed and ran the "Ready, Set, Go" Summer Program in West Bridgewater for many years, including after her retirement from teaching. Through the years Christine stayed in touch with many of her former students and enjoyed knowing what they were doing and how their children were thriving.

Her passion for teaching was equally matched by her love of cooking. In the kitchen at the many restaurants in which she worked she was better known as Chris or Sauté Sally. She was a Sauté Chef for many years at restaurants spanning from Raynham to Cape Cod, with many of them in the New Bedford area. La Garlic, Rosie's, Coletti's, Fay's, Trinity's, and Candleworks, were some of her favorite restaurants in which she worked, made friends, and had regulars enjoy her cooking. Some of the restaurants she was not only the Sauté Chef, she was a part of the opening team and developed menus. She was a part of many special occasions for others over the years through her own catering company, Easy Elegance, Catering by Christine.

Christine was predeceased by her brother David J. Becker, Jr. She is survived by her brother Robert J. Becker of Braintree, her partner Susan Moran of South Dartmouth, her son Peter McEnaney of North Attleboro, her daughter Carol Bliss (David) of Milford, and Bree Curran of Dunellen, NJ, who was like a daughter to her. Her six grandchildren whom she loved beyond measure: Justin McEnaney, Todd McEnaney, Christopher McEnaney, Peter McEnaney, Jr., Mackenzie Bliss, and Harrison Bliss.
