Obituary

Claire A. (McDonnell) Burgess age 86 of Weymouth formerly of Brockton, died Friday January 2, 2015 at her home surrounded by her devoted family. She was the wife of the late Robert F. Burgess. Claire was born and raised in Brockton a daughter of the late Edward and Evelyn (Wright) McDonnell. For the past 29 years she had lived in Weymouth.
A graduate of Brockton High School, Claire was a stay at home mother devoted to her husband and children. She will be remembered as a caring and comforting person to her family and all those around her. Claire loved to play bingo, visit casinos and take trips with her children.
Claire was the mother of Diane Parsons and her husband Bernard, Sherry Hammond and her husband Bruce, Glenn Burgess and his wife Claudia, Marty Burgess and his wife Deborah, Scott Burgess and his wife Lynn and the late Gary, Bobby and Jeffrey Burgess. She leaves many grandchildren, great grandchildren and a sister Karen “Lainey” Fontaine and her husband Robert and the late Vernice Bosak.
A graveside service will be held at the family lot in Melrose Cemetery, 88 N. Pearl St., Brockton on Friday at 10 am. Visiting hours are omitted. Donations in Claire’s name may be made to Hospice of the South Shore, 30 Reservoir Park Dr., Rockland, MA 02370.
