Obituary

Claire A. (Buckley) Gaffney, 86 years of Brockton, died May 10, 2009 at St. Joseph Manor after a brief illness. Born and raised in Brockton, daughter of the late Cornelius J. and Nancy K. (Coughlin) Buckley, she remained a lifelong resident. Claire was a 1940 graduate of Brockton High School, and also graduated from the Brockton Academy of Beauty Culture. She had been employed as a hairdresser by both Gilchrist’s and Fraser’s Department Stores and retired from the Gilchrist’s store in Quincy after 19 years. She enjoyed stamp collecting and swimming and was a former member of the YMCA/Easton Fitness Center.

Claire is survived by two sons Daniel J. Gaffney of Brockton and Brian P. Gaffney and his wife Cynthia of Medford Lakes, NJ; a grandson Mark Gaffney of Colorado; two great grandsons Michael and Matthew Gaffney of Colorado and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Daniel J. Buckley and former wife of the late John A. Gaffney.

Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Thursday at 8am. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 9am. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery.
