Online Obituaries Clara Benson, 97, of Gaithersburg, Maryland, passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at the Alfred House in Derwood, Maryland. She was the wife of the late Stanley Benson. Born January 8, 1915 in Tewksbury, she was the daughter of the late Albert Stagliano and Vera (Zuzzulo) Stagliano. Clara was a violinist and musician who gave violin lessons from home. She attended the Chicago Music College. Clara's life centered around her family, friends, music, travel and gardening. She is survived by her children, Peter Benson and his wife Pat and Lisa Pickett and husband Mike; her grandchildren, Dennis Pickett and his wife Erin, Christopher Benson and his wife Meredith, Cynthia Steele and her husband Jon, Jayne Piana and her husband Brian, Cheryl Crotts and her husband Jamie; her 12 great grandchildren; her sister, Jean Vergnani; her nieces, Carol Nangeroni and her husband Bobby, Linda Fahey, Janet Rubino and her husband Bill, Nancy Butler and her husband David and her nephew Rick Romeo. Funeral Information Calling hours in the Russell Pica Funeral Home on Saturday, August 11, 2012 from 9:00am - 10:00am followed by a funeral service at 10:00am in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater.
